This is a 4.5 acre multi-use sports complex, located right next to Lakeview Park on Ontario Street, is dedicated to the memory of Bonner County servicemen and women lost in wars from WWI on. A memorial dedicated to all Bonner County soldiers is located at the east entrance to the park. War Memorial became part of the Cities park system in 1993.
The park has traditionally been the “HOME” field for the Sandpoint High School baseball, football and soccer teams and the Sandpoint Babe Ruth, American Legion and Senior Men’s baseball teams. The park also hosts the “Festival at Sandpoint” music festival every August and various other community activities throughout the year. Memorial Field includes: artificial turf field for Football/Soccer, Baseball and Softball, lights, covered grandstands/locker rooms, restrooms and concessions, portable bleachers, and ticket booth.
The facility was developed by community wide participation with mostly donated funds, labor, and materials. The City of Sandpoint, and user fees fund today’s maintenance costs.
