Overview

In 2007, the North Turf became the home of New Paltz field hockey and women's lacrosse teams, and it also gave Wellness & Recreation a formidable playing surface for intramural's. With a blue quarter-mile track framing the field, it is a popular destination for student-athletes, students, faculty, staff members and community members. Prior to the fall of 2014, it was referred to as the "Turf Field," but following the construction of a new turf facility behind Lenape Hall, it adopted the title of being the "North Turf Field."

Covered in premium synthetic turf, it has an ideal playing surface for field hockey and lacrosse. This facility offers seating for spectators along the east side of the field, giving fans a picturesque view of the Shawangunk Mountains in the background. The bleachers seat approximately 300 people, but there is plenty of standing room along the fence. Sitting at an elevation higher than the facilities surrounding it, the Old Turf Field has an elevated view of Mary Gray Deane Field (softball), Loren Campbell Memorial Field (baseball) and the North Tennis Courts, all of which are adjacent to the Old Turf Field.
