PURPOSE

1. To promote and support recreational programs and services for all sectors of the Peguis Community
– Network with current programs and services (lighthouse, PYM, PCFS, Gaming, etc.)
– Hands on assistance when needed

2. To develop and deliver recreational programs and services for all sectors of the Peguis Community
– According to the community’s changing needs
– support volunteers, equipment, supplies, space & basic needs for program
– assist hands on within the program

3. To ensure fairness, equality and accountability
– ensuring documentation and maintaining records and files
– posting information to public (events, activities, job opportunities, programs, bids, etc.)
– following rules, guidelines & policy’s within Peguis Recreation and Peguis First Nation

4. To work together with all community programs, departments, organizations, clubs, associations and community services.
– By reaching out to local departments that are providing recreational program/services
– hosting quarterly meetings with local/public

5. To develop a strong, empowering and healthy community.
-recording community input through surveys
-networking & seeking experienced individuals/groups

6. To ensure compliance with any funding agreements and commitments.
– Regular meetings with finance manager
– Quarterly reports/updated for funding partners
– Regular communication with funding partners

7. To ensure access and participation.
– Minimal to no cost programs, services and events
– Meeting the needs of the people that participate in the programs, services and event

Vision
The Peguis Community and Peguis Membership Recreation Program inspires, promotes, develops and delivers a healthy lifestyle through diverse, quality year-round recreational programming opportunities and services to enrich mind, body, and spirit while enhancing lifelong learning skills for all ages.

Mission
To take a leadership role in developing a network of programs, activities, services, special events and facilities that will inspire all ages of the Peguis Community and Membership to participate in a range of opportunities and experiences that foster a strong, empowering and vibrant community spirit.

Goals/Objectives
• To train and supervise staff and volunteers for growth and independence.
• Policy and procedures followed.
• Follow criteria for travel, funding, volunteers, board selection, organizational chart, employees and documentation.
• Communication and transparency between community and recreation.
• Provide quality year round programming, wide range programs and promote participation.
• Provide healthy learning environment with fairness, equality and diversity holistically
• Stand alone and new recreation centre
• Work together with community and organizations
• Utilize outside facilities within community; ex. Multiplex, Peguis Central School
• Recreation centre more operational on evenings and weekends; renovations and upgrades to building
• Ensure recreation facilities (indoor and outdoor) are maintained, expanded and accessible to all membership in our community

Monthly Community Events
Criteria:
• Minimum one per month
• Ensuring the celebration is pertaining to evening/weekend or holiday of the month
• Open and accessible to on & off reserve band members
• Activities to apply to all age groups: young & old
Utilizing different areas/facilities within the Peguis First Nation community

Rules & User Policies

1. Recreation Building
• The Recreation Centre is open from 9am – 10pm for all local community members.
• After work hours, visitors MUST sign in at front foyer.
• Youth may not enter the Recreation Centre until after 3:30pm when school is dismissed.
• The use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco products are not allowed in the whole Recreation Centre.
• Anyone under 18yrs, MUST be with a mature responsible adult for health and safety issues and proper supervision.
• Community members are encouraged to volunteer for supervising evening and day activity/ events– for more information on being a part of the volunteer program – please talk to a staff in the recreation office.
• Maintenance staff/security is not responsible for supervising children during work hours.
• Profanity, destructive or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
• Respect of equipment, property, and others in facility is required.
• Discipline problems will be handled first by recreation staff and then referred to Peguis/Fisher Branch RCMP as necessary.
• The Recreation Centre will not be held liable for replacing any equipment, belongings, clothing, etc. that was damaged or stolen in facility. You are bringing them at your own risk.
• Staff in Recreation Centre reserves the right to eject any person for violation of the Recreation Centre rules and user policies.
• Any food that is brought into the Recreation Centre needs to be cleaned up by the person(s) who brought it in.
• Must wear proper footwear in Centre.

2. Fitness Together Centre
• Open to 18 & older.
• Open from 9am to 10pm
• No food or drinks allowed in Fitness Together Centre unless it’s in closed container.
• No outside shoes – must have proper footwear.
• Proper attire must be worn at all times (shirt, shorts, sweats, etc.)
• Re-rack plates, barbells and dumbbell when finished.
• Do not remove equipment, plates or dumbbells from Fitness Together Centre.
• All participants MUST wipe off equipment after each use with disinfectant wipes (provided by Rec. office)
• Exercise at own risk – when feeling lightheaded or fatigue, take it as a sign your body is being overworked and remove yourself to a safe area
• Profanity, destructive or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.

• The Recreation Centre will not be held liable for replacing any equipment, belongings, clothing, etc. that was damaged or stolen in facility. You are bringing them at your own risk.

3. Gymnasium/Billiard Room/Meeting room/Classroom
*Please see Recreation Staff to fill out proper paperwork to book/rent the use of room(s). (Gymnasium is currently booked by Lighthouse youth program every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday evening from 6-9pm September to June)
*When gym is not booked, it is open for all community/rental use.
• Children under 18yrs. must be with a mature, responsible adult when playing in the gymnasium. *equipment can be signed out at the Recreation office; money/personal item of yours must be left for security deposit*
• Food and drinks are NOT allowed in the gym
• Athletic shoes only in gym. No dress, street, or other black –soled shoes.
• Profanity, destructive or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
• Respect of equipment, property, and others in facility is required.
