Western Oregon's volleyball and basketball home is the Physical Education Building, located on the western edge of campus and across the street from McArthur Field. One of the premier small-college facilities in the Pacific Northwest, it was built in 1971 to replace the Old Physical Education Building, which now hosts football locker rooms, offices and a gymnasium. With a capacity of 2,473, the Physical Education Building (also called New PE) was the site for the first four NAIA Division II Women’s National Championship basketball tournaments and has hosted numerous district and regional tournaments. A state of the art lighting system was installed in the spring of 2005, giving the facility a brighter look. The Physical Education Building also houses physical education and athletic offices, classrooms and a fieldhouse used for track and field, baseball, softball and tennis.
