About the Facility

The W&L Turf Field was designed by Clough Harbour & Associates and completed in the fall of 2000 at a cost of $2.48 million. The  playing surface was redone in the summer of 2011.  The facility serves as the home for the W&L field hockey program.  The University also uses the field for intramurals, club sports and recreational use.

The W&L Turf Field is a 230-foot by 400-foot lighted, multi-purpose facility that features seating for 1,000 spectators.  It includes a press box, two scoreboards and a storage building for stowing away equipment.  The actual playing surface is a knitted nylon product called "HockeyTurf Elite" and is imbedded with lines for field hockey, men's lacrosse and women's lacrosse.

The complex is surrounded by fencing and has a landscaped entrance at the intersection of the lower and upper freshman parking lots.  There is also a restroom and concessions building just above the stands that was completed as part of the Watt Field project.

The W&L Turf Field has already hosted a number of conference and national events, including serving as the host site for the 2005, 2014 and 2015 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championships.
