Ithaca College’s soccer game field was renamed Carp Wood Field in 2001. Formerly known as Upper Terrace Field, the facility was renamed for Carlton “Carp” Wood, a 1939 Ithaca graduate and member of the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame. Wood coached baseball, men’s basketball and men’s soccer at his alma mater and led Ithaca to the NCAA playoffs in all three.
Carp Wood Field has been the site of numerous postseason games, including the 1998 NCAA women’s soccer “final four." The facility has hosted Empire 8, Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and NCAA playoff competition, as well as New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) playoff games in lacrosse and soccer.
Recent renovations to the facility include construction of a press box and concession stand, as well as the addition of stadium-style seating.
